Dear Mr. Moore,
I am anxious to learn if there is any new evidence in the tragic case of Buttons,
the young mare who was found dragged to death on June 1, 1998. Buttons' horribly injured body was discovered
nearly a mile from her barn on Peavine Road in Boyle, Mississippi. It appeared that Buttons and another
mare, Gypsy, had earlier been targeted for sexual molestation.
I understand that three juveniles
suspected in the case have been cleared by the Bolivar county Sheriff's Department. Are there any leads
as to who perpetrated this heinous crime?
At a time of increasing recognition that violence crosses
all barriers, I urge you to use your authority to see that a specal criminal task force aids the Sheriff's
department in solving this atrocious crime. I believe you share my sense of urgency about discovering
the person(s) who could perpetrate such a vile act. Common sense dictates that this is but a symptom
of the profile of a grievously dangerous person.
Sincerely,
|
