International: Korea - Bill Submitted to Legalize Dog Eating!
Update
on the Torture & Murder of Dogs in Korea:
Submitted by: Animals' Hope Petition Team
On The Last Book Day (Hot Dog Day) (Korean Time August 16th, 1999 Korean time), 20 assemblymen
including Kim Hong Shin submitted a new bill to the National Assembly today to include
dog as livestock production. If this passes, even more millions of dogs will be tortured and
murdered every year!
(Bayou Dogs - it is even worse. They really do mean torture. The Koreans
believe the meat will be more tender if the dog is hung alive, beaten, and then the fur singed off with
a blow torch while the poor creature is still alive! UGH!)
At 3:00 PM the CAPS demonstration
started in Seoul. This Protest was bigger than ever before. All major TV reporters and
many newspaper reporters were there.
The Dogs Need Your Help Now!!!
The good news is that we have a new good friend for animals. The Rep. Chung Hung Kun (he belongs
the Legislation and Judiciary Committee) offered Suntan Um of KAPS to help lobby the
Legislation and Judiciary committee to not pass Kim Hong Shin's new bill to legalize this nightmare
and also help us introduce a new bill to stop eating dogs and cats.
First Kim Hong
Shin's new bill to legalize dog meat or a new bill to stop eating dogs and cats has to pass the
Agriculture Committee. Then they have to pass the Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
After that it will go to main National Assembly to finalize.
